Certificates of Deposit are debt instruments issued by banks. Maturities range from a few weeks to five years, however it is more commonplace to trade this instrument only up to one year. CDs can be issued as discounted CDs or coupon bearing. These are the most common form. However, floating rate Eonia fix CDs and other more complex structures are beginning to emerge as the products continue to develop.
